Secure Shell, commonly known as SSH, is a cryptographic network protocol used to execute commands on a remote hosting server or to exchange information between a web server and a client. Since the info exchanged by the 2 sides is protected, a third party can't intercept it, which makes SSH a favored means of managing an Internet hosting account. The commands which can be executed depend on the type of hosting service. On a shared server, for instance, the options are limited as you won't have root access to the machine, so you may just create/move/delete files, set up and unpack archives, export and import databases, etcetera. They are all actions that are carried out inside the shared hosting account and don't need a higher level of access. By using a virtual or a dedicated server, you shall have the option to install server-side software or to restart the server or only a particular service (web server, database server, etc.). SSH commands are submitted with a command line, and if you do not use a UNIX-like OS, there are a number of apps for other OSs, that you can employ to connect to the remote web server as well.
SSH Telnet in Semi-dedicated Servers
All our semi-dedicated server accounts provide the possibility to access and manage them via SSH. If the plan which you have chosen incorporates this feature by default, you just have to activate the SSH access feature via the corresponding section of the Hepsia CP. If the feature is listed as an additional upgrade, you may quickly include it through the Add Services/Upgrades link inside the Hepsia CP and it shall be available within a minute. We have a variety of help articles and video tutorials concerning the use of SSH commands to manage your account and an entire list of the commands you can carry out alongside several examples to give you a better understanding of what you can do. If SSH is enabled, you will also be able to set up an SFTP connection to the account and to upload information safely and securely via any FTP application that supports the function.
SSH Telnet in VPS Servers
If you buy a new VPS server from our company, it shall feature full root access and you shall be able to connect to the server and to manage everything through an SSH console. The feature is included as standard with all packages, so you will not have to allow or upgrade anything. Your web server will be set up right after you order it and as soon as you receive the Welcome email with the login details, you can connect via the server’s primary IP address and begin working. Because the VPS is a software emulation of a dedicated server and is separated from the other accounts within the physical machine, there won't be any restrictions in terms of the commands that you can use. You'll have full root access, so that you may set up and run any app that can work on a Linux web server, manage files, folders and databases or start/stop/reboot the whole machine or any software operating on it.
